There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight casinos are established in a generally tiny location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, features 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight table games.
