There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not legal. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in a prime spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel complex that features a number of luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight table games.
